Acupuncture – Food Energetics – Mindfulness Meditation – Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
Lori is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and Professional Standards Authority. She is trained in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Five Element Acupuncture, *the science of Food Energetics and Mindfulness Meditation. She has completed the first stage of obtaining her certificate as a permaculture designer. She has been in full time acupuncture practice since gaining her degree in 1999 from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Acupuncture is safe, holistic and professional treatment for a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, effective in the treatment of stress, fertility health of both men and women, menstrual and menopause problems, migraine, allergies, digestive problems, irritable bowel, neurological conditions, sinusitis, respiratory problems, asthma, insomnia, back/shoulder/neck pain, carpal tunnel, arthritis, joint problems and more. People suffering anxiety or depression find acupuncture of huge benefit. Where appropriate, Lori combines acupuncture with mindfulness in her treatments and for those living with chronic disease, high blood pressure and stroke recovery.
Food Energetics is as much a course as it is personal support to improve your own health and wellbeing. All foods possess energetics having specific actions on our body and emotions. Lori will take a full case history about your health past and present, to address your specific health needs through the medicinal use of seasonal food. Lori will work with you for one year at the beginning of each season (there are five seasons in Chinese medicine). You will be provided with her e-book on Food Energetics with seasonal recipes to inspire you.
In 2017, Lori was invited to provide the food energetics of the launch of the UN’s World Food Programme”s Healthy Not Hungry campaign. This was a global initiative for food sustainability and to address undernourishment. These events gave birth to The Chef’s Manifesto, a global community bringing growers and chef’s from around the world together to expand their profession into areas of health, land and food sustainability.
Mindfulness meditation is for anyone living with stress, anxiety or pain. It is also
for anyone who just wants to learn ‘how to get the day before the day gets you.’ Mindfulness is the science of using the breath to control our response to stress, anxiety and pain by slowing down the chemical messengers from the brain that release cortisol, keeping us in a constant state of alertness. Lori has practised and taught mindfulness since 1974. She teaches groups, one to one or couples, over an 8 week course. You will be given her course book with the techniques she teaches and she will remain available to mentor you beyond the 8 weeks.
In 2004 Lori trained with Penny Brohn Cancer Care to support people living with the effects of cancer treatment using acupuncture, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), relaxation techniques and mindfulness meditation. In 2008 Lori embarked on a 7 year study of acupuncture and mindfulness for people living with Parkinson’s Disease which proved to make a positive improvement in the quality of day to day living and to her own understanding of people living with chronic disease.
